Stress tips moms like me use every day are what keep us grounded—especially when building a business while raising a family.
Let me take you back a few years. I was a new mom of two with a full calendar of school drop-offs, playdates, soccer practices, and dance recitals. At the same time, I was chasing my dream of running my own business. And while I was excited and passionate, I also felt stretched thin—emotionally, physically, and mentally.
The truth is, starting a business can be exciting and overwhelming, especially when you’re also the heart of a home. That’s why I’ve learned that stress doesn’t have to run the show. With simple habits and the right mindset, you can manage stress in a way that keeps you focused, happy, and present.
1. Start With Your Breath
One of the quickest ways to reduce stress is to breathe. I know it sounds simple, but it works. When I feel overwhelmed, I pause and take three deep breaths. This helps me reset. It gives me a moment to gather my thoughts—whether I’m prepping a pitch or helping with homework.
Try setting a timer on your phone that reminds you to take these breath breaks three times a day. Just 30 seconds can help more than you think.
2. Give Yourself Permission to Rest
This was a hard one for me. I used to believe that “rest” meant I wasn’t working hard enough. But now I know better. Rest is fuel.
That doesn’t mean you need a spa day (although those are nice too!). Sometimes it just means taking 20 minutes with a cup of tea, closing your eyes, and letting your mind wander. You deserve that time. You’re not being selfish—you’re being smart.
3. Plan, but Be Flexible
Moms know that life rarely goes as planned. Kids get sick. Meetings run over. And dinner still needs to happen. That’s why I use a simple weekly planner that leaves room for changes.
Each Sunday, I jot down my top three priorities for the week. Not 10. Just three. It keeps me grounded, and if something unexpected happens, I’m not derailed. Instead, I can adjust without guilt.
4. Don’t Do It Alone
You are not alone. When I first started my business, I tried to do everything myself—bookkeeping, client calls, design, dinner, dishes… all of it. But burnout hit fast.
Now, I ask for help. Sometimes that help is from my partner, sometimes from my kids, and sometimes from a virtual assistant. Asking for support doesn’t mean you’re weak—it means you’re smart and sustainable.
Even talking to a fellow mompreneur for 15 minutes can ease your load.
5. Celebrate the Small Wins
We’re often so focused on where we’re going that we forget to look at how far we’ve come.
Each Friday, I write down one thing I did well that week. It could be launching a new offer, making a client smile, or simply showing up for myself. When I do this, my mindset shifts from stress to success. I hope these stress tips for moms are helpful.
