Simple Tips for Better Work-Life Balance

Better work balance starts with simple choices.

I know because I’ve lived it. I’m a mom of two, and like many women, I started my business while juggling soccer practices, bedtime stories, and client calls. Some days, I crushed it. Other days, not so much. But along the way, I learned a few tricks that helped me feel less overwhelmed and more focused.

I see you if you’re building your business and trying to keep your family life together. Let me share what’s worked for me—and what might work for you too.

1. Set one big goal per day.

It’s easy to make a long to-do list. But long lists make us feel behind before we even begin. Try setting just one big goal each day. For example: “Write my first product description” or “Make 5 follow-up calls.” That one win gives you confidence and helps your business grow step by step.

Each day, ask:
What’s one thing I can do today to move forward?
Then do it first—before emails, laundry, or social media.

2. Use a timer and take breaks.

When I started using a kitchen timer, everything changed. I’d set it for 25 minutes, focus on one task, and then take a 5-minute break. This helped me stay focused and not burn out.

It’s called the Pomodoro Technique, but don’t worry about the fancy name. Just know that short bursts of work, followed by short breaks, make your brain feel happier and your work smoother.

3. Create a space that feels like yours

Even if you’re working from your kitchen table, try to make a little area that feels good. A candle, a favorite notebook, a sign that says “You’ve got this”—these little touches matter.

When your space feels good, you feel good. And when you feel good, you work better and faster.

4. Talk to your family about your goals.

This one took me a while. I used to try to “do it all” without saying a word. But once I started telling my kids, “Mom needs 20 minutes to write this post,” they understood. They even became my little cheerleaders.

Talk to your partner, kids, or close friends about your work. When they understand your goals, they’re more likely to support your dreams—and that’s beautiful.

5. Don’t chase perfect. Chase progress.

Better work balance doesn’t mean every day is smooth. It means you’re learning to listen to yourself, trust your gut, and take the next right step—even when things feel messy.

Some days, I still forget what day it is. And sometimes dinner is cereal. That’s okay.

What matters is this: You’re showing up. You’re growing a business and raising a life—one beautiful, brave moment at a time.

6. End your day with a win.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur ada

At bedtime, I ask myself:
“What did I do today that made me feel proud?”

Maybe it was sending an email. Maybe it was choosing to rest. Whatever your win is, notice it. Celebrate it. You’re doing hard, heart-filled work, and that deserves recognition.

7. Use Sundays to set your pace.

Sunday evenings are my planning time. I grab a notebook, light a candle, and look at the week ahead. I plan meals, list business tasks, and block out time for myself and my kids.

Even 30 minutes of quiet planning can make your whole week feel lighter.

That’s what a better work balance really is—it’s about choosing your rhythm, not reacting to the rush.

You’re not alone in this.

If you’re still finding your groove, that’s okay. Better work balance is a journey, not a finish line. Some days feel like a dance. Some days feel like a tug-of-war.

But through it all, you’re building something real. Something that matters.

And I’m here to help you along the way.

Let’s keep building together.
