Starting a business and managing life as a mom isn’t easy, but it’s possible with the right approach. I’ve learned when I organize for results, everything becomes more manageable—whether it’s growing my business or being present for my kids’ activities. Let’s explore how you can bring more organization into your life for a happier, more productive 2025.
Step 1: Reflect and Simplify
The first step to staying organized is reflection. Take a moment to think about where you are now. What’s working? Maybe you’re keeping up with social media posts or consistently connecting with customers. That’s great—celebrate those wins!
But what about the areas that feel messy or overwhelming? Maybe your calendar is packed, or you’re juggling too many tasks at once. When I feel like that, I pause and ask myself, “What can I simplify?”
For example, instead of trying to manage every little detail of my business, I use simple tools like a digital planner or scheduling apps. They free up my time so I can focus on what matters most—my family and my business growth.
Just this week, I realized that with the Military Appreciation Night fundraiser that I organize for my son’s hockey, hosting a team dinner, my husband traveling, and my daughter’s drama schedule – my mind was feeling scattered. Solution? I went old school and grabbed a physical calendar and time blocked my days each week. My goal is to have my mind feel like it can focus without worrying something is falling through the cracks.
Step 2: Break Goals Into Steps
Big goals feel intimidating, don’t they? That’s why I always break them into smaller steps. For instance, if your goal is to get more customers in 2025, start by focusing on just one method, like improving your website or attending one networking event a month.
When I started my business, I learned that small, consistent steps led to big wins. Instead of creating a massive to-do list, focus on a few things you can do daily or weekly. This keeps your goals manageable and your energy focused.
Step 3: Create Routines That Work
As a mom of two, routines are my lifeline. When the school year begins, I set morning and evening routines for the whole family. Similarly, I create routines for my business.
I dedicate specific days to certain tasks. Mondays are for planning my week and open office hours for my clients, Tuesdays are for live training and video recordings, Wednesdays thru Fridays are for client meetings, and Fridays, I block off time for reflecting on what worked well. These routines keep me organized and make my week feel less chaotic.
Step 4: Use Tools That Save Time
There’s no need to do everything the hard way. Simple tools can make a big difference in your productivity. For social media, I schedule posts in advance using free platforms like Canva or Meta Business Suite. For time management, I love using Google Calendar—it keeps me on track. And when necessary like this month, I include the old-school physical calendar.
When I first started, I resisted using these tools because I thought I could handle everything. Now, I see how much time they save, and I can’t imagine running my business without them.
Step 5: Stay Flexible
Here’s a secret: even with the best organization, things don’t always go as planned. Kids get sick, meetings get rescheduled, and life happens. That’s okay.
Flexibility doesn’t mean you give up on being organized; it means you adjust. I’ve learned when I stay open to change, I can handle anything that comes my way.
Why Organization Matters
When you organize for results, your life becomes less stressful and more joyful. You’re not just managing your time; you’re creating space for what matters—whether it’s growing your business, enjoying your kids’ soccer games, or simply having a moment to yourself.
If you’re ready to make 2025 your most organized and happy year yet, start with these steps. Remember, it’s not about perfection—it’s about progress.
