Love Your Business All Year Long
Summer has always been one of my favorite seasons. My kids are home more, their hobbies and sports keep us busy, and there are plenty of moments filled with sunshine and laughter. But as a mom and a business owner, I also know summer can feel a little chaotic. That’s why I lean into summer business tips that keep me on track, so I can love my business and still enjoy life with my family.
When I first started my business, I thought summer would be the perfect time to coast a little. But I quickly learned that when I let things slide too much, I ended up feeling stressed in the fall. Now, instead of slowing down, I use summer as a time to simplify, focus, and grow in ways that don’t feel heavy or overwhelming.
Let me share a few things that work for me—and might just work for you too.
Tip 1: Simplify Your Daily Routine
Summer days can feel unpredictable with family activities, vacations, and longer daylight hours. Instead of fighting against that, I simplify my daily routine. I choose three important tasks each day and focus on finishing those first.
This way, no matter what else happens, I know I’m moving my business forward. Sometimes that means sending out an email to my list, posting on social media, or connecting with a potential client. It doesn’t have to be complicated—it just has to be consistent.
Transitioning into this way of working keeps me calm, and it creates results without eating up my whole day.
Tip 2: Focus on Connection
During the summer, many people feel more relaxed and open to new conversations. This makes it the perfect time to build meaningful connections. Whether it’s chatting with another mom at a kids’ game, following up with a past client, or reaching out on social media, small connections add up.
When I started doing this, I realized relationships don’t have to be built only in formal business settings. Some of my best clients came from conversations that started casually while waiting for my kids to finish practice.
So don’t underestimate the power of simply talking about what you do and sharing your excitement for it.
Tip 3: Create Light, Fun Content
One of the best summer business tips is to create content that feels fresh and fun. People are scrolling social media during vacations, at the pool, or in between barbecues. They’re looking for something light and easy to read or watch.
Instead of heavy business topics, I like to share quick tips, personal stories, or behind-the-scenes peeks at my day. For example, I might share a photo of my kids at the baseball field with a caption about balancing family and business. It’s relatable, and it builds trust with my audience.
Tip 4: Plan Around Your Energy
Summer is not about working harder—it’s about working smarter. I plan my work hours around my natural energy and family schedule. For me, mornings are my most productive time, so I get my business work done before the kids are fully into their day.
If you’re a night owl, maybe your best work time is after the house is quiet. Either way, giving yourself permission to match your business tasks to your energy keeps things easier and more enjoyable.
Tip 5: Prepare for Fall
Here’s a little secret: what you do in the summer sets the tone for the rest of the year. While I enjoy the slower pace, I also use the season to prepare for the busy months ahead.
This doesn’t mean filling my schedule with endless tasks. Instead, I set aside a little time each week to review my goals, tidy up my systems, or map out ideas for the fall. By doing this, I feel ready to hit the ground running when summer ends.

Being a business owner and a mom means my life is full, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. My business gives me freedom, and my family gives me joy. Summer is the season when both blend together the most.
